Perspective on Lower Class
The lower class in Constantinople was classified as the Plebeian people, which were mostly all freeborn citizens, who had bought themselves out of slavery They inherited the name from Rome since the Byzantine empire began right after the Roman Empire ended. Former slaves had some restrictions, so they weren't completely free. For example, they are not allowed to hold office anywhere in the territory.
The lower class probably would have reacted to this "Chariot Racing Tournament," as a way to help out the slaves because if they were apart of slavery, they would've probably understood how hard it was to earn and buy goods.

Perspective on Upper Class
The upper class in Constantinople was classified as the Patricians. This group had all men who served in the Senate, and their families. The Men of the Senate wore special tunics with broad stripes. One must have property worth at least 1,000,000 sesterces (a form of currency) to be apart of this class. Another branch of the upper class is the Equestrian class. The bias for this class was economic.
The upper class probably thought this "Chariot Racing Tournament." was for the emperor's entertainment and for the public to see. They would've thought of this as a joke, but would've probably watched this event.

Perspective on Slaves
The people in this group were people who were born into slavery, sold into slavery, or prisoners of war. These people were property of their owners, but some slaves, may have been able to own their savings.
The slaves would have most likely been thinking that this was a helpful thing, and would help them a lot. Although, if they had a slave owner I think that, if they joined and placed, they would later on after claiming the prize give it to their owner by force.
